A Place to Call Home: Part 50- This too shall pass

Closing escrow is like waiting for a hurricane blow over.

I got over a flurry of emails yesterday between the bank, the bank's assistant, the loan officer, the loan officer's assistant, the escrow company, the designer, the building owners, and the real estate agents. I disguised the names to protect the knuckleheads involved.

We STILL have NOT closed, and it is a week after we were supposed to have closed. Papers are lost, people are missing in action, and time is passing at a speed only a snail could rival in slowness.

My favorite part of being a first-time home buyer is the fact that EVERY time we talk to somebody, they explain to us how the process works.... and THEN when the process doesn't work how they say it should work, they re-explain the process.  Why do I feel stuck-on-stupid?

"We must be confused," they say. Poor, first-time homebuyer....We clearly don't understand the process. We think that process means they are actually going to proceed.... ha ha...lmao... rookie mistake. What we need to understand is that, in real estate jargon, process means pause, stop, halt, and/or quit.....It all depends on the weather, they say because "in this climate" these things like this just don't happen over night.

I suppose we could accept that answer if we lived in Alaska.. but egads... this is the sunshine state. Since when have we EVER had 45 days of night?

Oh well... This too shall pass.

  1. The only way to proceed with real estate peeeps is to be on top of them until they don't want to answer the phone and then keep calling them till they do. =p
