Escrow is nebulous term.....
If you ask a realtor what it means and the itemized costs, they give you a definition of escrow that includes the term "escrow", a series of acronyms, and realtor jargon.
"Escrow.... escrow is what brwings us toge-wer again to-way." (In my mind, as our realtor is talking, I am channeling the priest from Princess Bride). You want to appear cool, calm, collected and informed so you just nod your head and say, "right... right... okay... just get to the part where you say, 'man and wife'... or.... errrrrr.... I mean... 'here are the keys.'"
Upon entering "escrow", you are entering the twilight zone. None of the books on real estate and home buying tell you that.
While you are signing papers that vary in degree of importance, the following terms are flung around: down payment, closing costs, closing date, interest rate lock, good faith estimate, MIP, taxes, mello roos, inspections... etc. etc.... You need a Rosetta Stone to follow the trail of words to concrete numbers.
All of this is to tell you.... WE ARE IN ESCROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our LA Beach Loft is pictured above. It is the left corner unit. It rises from the fourth floor to the fifth with floor to ceiling windows and a wrap around porch. It was a miracle we found this place. The realtor hadn't even listed it when I called to inquire about the unit next door. She told me that this place had just fallen out of escrow and was now available. We contacted our realtor, and went to it. We made an offer and whalllllllah!!!!! Our months of searching for a place to call home is coming to a close....
We have now entered the twilight zone for 30-45 days. Be sure to check back for updates.... I'm sure this isn't the end of the saga.
Because this is a public blog, I won't share too many details, but I will share some photos and a video. :)
